You need to be both organised and prepared for
an interview. Know who you're meeting, when and where. Know how
to get to the interview and how long it will take you.
TIPS
•
Read about the company before
the interview. Check the company website, its annual report,
its publicly available brochures and any recent media articles.
•
Learn something about the company's
business, market and competitors.
•
Read over your CV so you remember
what the interviewer knows about you!
•
Dress smartly but comfortably.
•
Treat everyone you meet, from
the receptionist to the interviewing panel, with friendly courtesy.
Remember to smile and try to remember their names.
•
Don't panic when asked questions.
Relax and answer at your own pace.
•
If you are unsure about what
a question means, ask the interviewer to explain.
•
Watch your body language: good
posture, calm hand gestures and uncrossed arms and legs indicate
confidence.
•
Be honest about your
weaknesses, but indicate how you are trying to improve them.
•
Feel free to ask questions
to gather information about the job, but also to show your enthusiasm.
You may ask about your team, any training and induction, the
role's responsibilities, the workplace culture, scope for advancement
in the company, and the company's plans generally and for your
work area.
•
If the interviewer does not
explain the next step, then ask when you are likely to hear.
•
Ensure the company knows how
to reach you.
•
Remember to thank everyone
and say goodbye.
•
Call your recruitment consultant
to tell him or her how you think the interview went, and to
ask any questions that you might have as a result of the interview.
