When you write your CV, take care with its presentation,
structure and accuracy.
TIPS
•
Use a plain typeface (nothing
decorative).
•
You do not need to include
a photo or your marital status.
•
Try to keep your CV to no more
than four pages.
•
Include your name and contact
details on the front page,
•
Don't include your work telephone
number if you do not want to be contacted at work.
•
Keep the structure simple!
Present your job history and qualifications in a clear, consistent
and logical manner.
•
Order your jobs, qualification
and achievements from most recent to least recent.
•
Do not leave gaps in your work
history. Explain any absences for travel, study or family reasons.
•
Place any information about
your hobbies or interests at the end and keep it short!
•
Check your spelling and grammar.
Ask a friend to proofread the CV too.
•
Staple the pages together:
do not use any other bindings or plastic wallets.
•
If posting your CV, make sure
the envelope is clearly and accurately addressed. If you email
your CV, add a quick note in the email so the receiver knows
there is an attachment.
•
Remember, your CV is a potential
employer's first impression of you, so make it a good one!
